User Research
Starting off my online user research, I wanted to get a better understanding of how people in their communities prepare for upcoming disasters (that’s if they do), and to see what users are struggling with when it comes to getting prepared and see what has been improving throughout the years. A lot of the information I gathered was through Statista, a website that displays numerous infographics on various statistics.

Ideation Sketches
After accumulating my research, I started ideating on some product ideas. I was mainly focusing on two ideations: the containers that will keep the users, essentials, organized, and a specialty backpack that can hold the kit boxes or even create a backpack that doesn’t require the kit boxes.
Concept Models
With those sketches above eyes made some study models to have a quick 3D visual of what the product could look like. For some of them, I expand it a little more from what was shown in the sketches just to see what the functionality would look like. From here, I decided to proceed with the preparation container kit idea.
Product Development
From here I started to get a deeper visualization of how many essentials can be fit inside a phone box kit, and I was surprised to see how much I could fit within kits. With this, I was able to proceed to create a CAD model.
Product Development
I used Fusion 360 to create the container boxes as well as create a split line so I can make the product fit inside my 3D printer.
Realizing the kit would need something to keep them organized, I decided to create a case on Solidworks to keep them organized in a backpack while allowing easy access to the boxes for any quick emergency uses.
